The God Who has Fed Us!

One of the scriptures that come to mind when I think of the Lord providing and watching over us is Genesis 48:15.

Over the years the Lord has been there, most of the times he been there silently it seems; at the same time I have seen the hand of the Lord over us as we keep moving in the direction of his calling.

When I first came across this scripture in Genesis it spoke volumes because I see the tenderness of God in providing for Israel.

In Genesis 48:15 Israel is at the end of his life and is about to pass on the blessing to his descendents. Israel proclaims that the God which his fathers Abraham and Isaac walk before is the same God who has fed him all his

life. His proclamation is that the same God has kept him all his life time will now bless and keep them also.

In Luke 12:24 Jesus declares that God feeds the birds of the air and in Mathew 6:26 Jesus states your Heavenly father feed them and brings clarity to the fact that you are far more valuable to your Father in heaven.

Matt 6:26 - Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they? (KJV)
Luke 12:24 - Consider the ravens: for they neither sow nor reap; which neither have storehouse nor barn; and God feedeth them: how much more are ye better than the fowls?

Our experience with God is one of intimacy which comes through our Lord Jesus and as we seek him, we will see the Lord’s provision and so will proclaim the same as Israel to our descendents. Hallelujah!

Rudy & Annette Trujillo are the lead pastors of Faith Center in San Fernando. After a life changing experience with Jesus in 1978 Pastor Rudy immediately began to preach Christ from the streets of San Fernando to the streets of Watts California where he would see God move in a radical and unique way.

In July of 1980 his calling took him to the streets of San Francisco where he and his wife Annette planted and lead New Life Faith Center church in the Mission District for 10 years. There in the city of San Francisco they would see God move in the hearts and lives of youth that still to this day follow Jesus!

In a 30 year span Pastor Rudy’s calling has taken him from preaching on the streets to countries abroad.

Pastor Rudy believes “the message of the cross is simple; yet powerful revealing the wisdom of God to restore, reclaim and rebuilt fallen humanity".

The message of what Jesus did through the cross when embraced in simple child-like faith brings a life filled with Love, Faith and Hope.

I read this on Pastor Che blog and wanted to share it.

Surviving Choice

“I’d known ever since I can remember that I was adopted, and was born about
four months premature. I knew that I was very sick and tiny, and the doctors
didn’t have a very good prognosis for my life. I didn’t have a lot of questions
about that growing up, because I was in a great home. I was loved, and life
was good.”

The speaker is an attractive young woman, with short brown hair and
sparkling blue eyes, doing an interview on a television talk show.  As she
speaks, a series of photos of her as an infant, child and young adult are
flashed across the screen.  Looking at the smiling images displaying
obvious robust health, it is hard to believe she began life as such a
premature, high-risk infant.  The photo montage ends with more recent
wedding pictures to husband Ryan in 2005, and the birth of their first
child, a daughter Olivia, in 2008.

She speaks of the joys of motherhood, after working for several years
as a social worker with a masters degree in substance abuse, and
assault and sexual abuse counseling. As I listen I think, “Here is an
accomplished, young mother who undoubtedly brings great joy to her
adoptive parents, who probably can’t imagine what their lives would
have been like without her. Another heartwarming human interest story.”

As I start to change channels, her next words stop me cold, and rivet
my attention. “I was 14 years old when my Mom decided to tell me
the circumstances surrounding my birth. She said, ’There’s no easy
way to tell you this.’ Then she just kind of blurted it out. She said,
‘Melissa, your mother had an abortion during her fifth month of
pregnancy with you and you survived it.’”

She goes on to describe how her 19 year-old mother chose to have
a saline abortion, subjecting Melissa to 5 days of toxic salt
poisoning in the womb.  Supposed to be dead at delivery, she was
discarded as medical waste, but rescued by a nurse who heard her
feeble grunts.  She spent the next 2 months in a NICU, on IV
feeding, not expected to survive.  She was adopted by her parents,
who made their choice in the face of medical warnings that Melissa
would probably have multiple impairments and never be normal.

Despite the happiness she enjoyed with her adoptive parents,
Melissa Ohden shares the deep pain this revelation brought.
“My biggest question was, ‘Why? Why could you make that
decision to end my life? Could I have been so unwanted and
so unloved?” It took a decade of soul searching, but Melissa
relates that she came to understand that her life, indeed
everyone’s life, has tremendous significance that needs to be
respected.

Consider for a moment, what if your mother had chosen to
abort you?  Your spouse, if you are married, would not know
you and your children would never have been born.
Your parents would never have watched either you or your
children grow up.  Your siblings and friends would never have
had all those wonderful childhood adventures with you, and
your work associates would never experience your
contributions to the group effort.  The ripple effects of a single
human life go on and on, bridging generations.

Psalm 139, verses 13 and 16 tell us: “For You created my
inmost being; You knit me together in my mother’s womb.
Your eyes saw my unformed body. All the days ordained for
me were written in Your book before one of them came to be.”
If God values the significance of our life so much, can we value
our life or the life of anyone else, less?

Introduction to the Hebrew New Testament

The New Testament, or B'riyt HaHhadashah in Hebrew, was written by Hebrews, for Hebrews and within an Hebraic Culture. While the only New Testament manuscripts known to exist are written in Greek, with the possible exception of the book of Matthew, the evidence suggests that much of it was originally written in Hebrew and afterwards translated into Greek.

While there are many textual evidences to support this theory, Matthew 5:3 is a good example of this.

Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

The Greek word for "poor" is ptochos and means one who is destitute, afflicted, and lacking. What this verse is literally saying is "Blessed are the ones destitute/afflicted/lacking in the spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven." This does not make any sense. However, if we translate the Greek word ptochos into Hebrew we have the word aniy which also means destitute, afflicted and lacking. More literally the Hebrew word aniy means "bent down low" such as a poor person who is destitute. But, this Hebrew word can also mean one who is humble, in the same sense of bending down low.

Now, if we translate the Hebrew back into English we have, "Blessed are the humble in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven." By understanding this passage from its Hebrew background, we are able to better interpret the New Testament Bible.

Hollywood 1977 and Keith Green

Today I heard our youth pastor playing what he called old school music (Keith Green) which he said was very powerful. After speaking with him I was reminded of my first exposure to his music, in 1977 I was hanging out in Hollywood with a girlfriend and another couple, we were doing the usual partying on a Friday night getting high doing our thing when we decided to go to the Record Store and check out the music. As I'm walking down the aisles I see an album cover with this cool looking dude holding up his finger with what look like the number one sign, it caught my attention because it was different from most of the covers back then, what struck me was the title of the album "For Him Who Has Ears To Hear" I remember thinking to myself as I read the cover "I got ears to hear, what you got to say?' When I picked up the album and seen the back cover I was sold! Because I liked the ideal that he had a women with him and they were doing the sign of the cross each holding their finger over the other to shape a cross. Back then I thought that was cool that a man and woman were together and doing the God thing. As i'm walking to the check out my friend Eddie asked me "What the !@#$%!!!!! you buying that for?" At the time I didn't care what he thought about it, I bought the album. I remember going home that night wasted by the time we got home and playing the album the rest of the night. There were many times I would play that album and God used it to speak to me; even times when I would be loaded and out of my mind the music would bring me to a place and sense of God's presence. That album was so powerful that I still remember times my brothers Ernie and Raul would ask me to play that music that sings about God, they would just trip on it... God used the album to sow seed and I am sure to water what he had placed in my heart. Keith Green was a pioneer that God used in music to touch a lot of us that were living a crazy life. His music was out of the box and reached beyond the four walls of the church at least for me. I didn't realize back then that God was calling me, I had heard the gospel because of a girlfriend who took me to a little coffee house where they would preach and talk about how heavy God was, they would play Jesus rock and jam. That little storefront was a unique place back in the mid 70' as we would sit on the floor, some on bean bags as we would gather and hear the Jesus stories. That place was unique to me because I didn't like church and all the religious stuff; because it didn't make sense and there you could let your hair down, kick back and just let God speak as we would hear things I had never heard before... God used Keith Green to speak to me through his music.... Thank God for the 60' and 70's and the music that spoke about Jesus... My prayer today is that God would give us music that still speaks about and leads us to Jesus and may God give us "Ears to Hear" What ya doing buying that music!!!!!!!!!!

1978 - God and the Bar!

It's been 30 years March 1978 that Jesus touched my heart! It started in the summer of 1975 I had heard about Jesus being able to change my life in a little place called the Solid Rock; where a little lady named Ma Bean would have Jesus gatherings. There in that place we would sit on the floor and listen to music and hear the stories about Jesus. After running from God for a few years as a youngster I had an encounter with the Jesus of the bible. I still remember that day like it was yesterday feeling broken from life with a broken heart sitting in a bar near the GM Van Nuys Plant; thinking about my life.

As I'm sitting at the bar drinking I'm thinking about my life, it seems like my whole life flashed before my eyes with a clear picture of all that I had been through, like a high definition TV with the images of my life flashing before me every image bringing the pains and sorrows associated with it.

I'm remembering the most painful times of my life; my dad passing away when I was 16years old, the times I would go in and out of jail, the emptiness and loneliness as the cell doors would slam, the cold jail cells and longing to see a familiar face, all these feelings and emtions just seemed to flow my soul and gave me a broken heart that longed to be free.

It was there in that bar I decided that if there was a God I would find him that day! I decided if God is real I will meet him! Rushing home in the living room of my apartment I would cry out with all my being, there I weep and sob uncontrollably with convulsive sheaving pouring out all that was in my heart.

With my face to the floor sobbing before God asking him and pleading that he would mend and fix my broken heart, not asking for money, cars or girlfriends just a pure hunger to know him in pure life.

I poured my heart out in desperation for God to show me his love, all I wanted from him was to mend my broken heart and be real. It was there that Jesus stepped into my life and lifted me out of the pit of despair. It was there that the reality of God was discovered. It was as though he stepped into the living room with me and placed his loving hand on me, I felt like all the weight of my torn shattered life was lifted, i felt like he healed my life and I knew that life would never be the same from that moment on.

I'm just so thankful that I can still sense him in my life. I'm glad he still loves me, glad he has never left me even when he should have! If you need him today, all you have to do is cry out to him in sincerity.

He always shows himself to the humble (Isaiah 57:15...the Holy One, says this: "I live in the high and holy place with those whose spirits are contrite and humble. I restore the crushed spirit of the humble and revive the courage of those with repentant hearts") after 30 years I know it's true "None but Jesus" can give life, and bring meaning to life even in a bar.

On July 15, 1980 after being married for only 8 months Pastor Rudy & Annette along with Javier Gaitan began a little bible study in the Mission District on Hampshire Street. In that little bible study God began to move in the lives of many young people. Today there is still fruit that remains in the kingdom of God. We will gather to celebrate the work of God's Spirit at New Life Faith Center.

The Passing of A True Warrior

Lilly Rodriquez will be missed greatly a one of a kind person. I will always remember her as a smooth - but deadly person because although she was such a gentle and mild person I knew she could knock you out if she had too.

My prayers go to Blinky and the family, also to the entire Urquidez family. Lilly is now in the presence of the Almighty One The King of Glory.

To my New Life Church family:I am so sorry. I am sorry for the disappointment, the betrayal, and the hurt. I am sorry for the horrible example I have set for you.I have an overwhelming, all-consuming sadness in my heart for the pain that you and I and my family have experienced over the past few days. I am so sorry for the circumstances that have caused shame and embarrassment to all of you.I asked that this note be read to you this morning so I could clarify my heart's condition to you. The last four days have been so difficult for me, my family and all of you, and I have further confused the situation with some of the things I've said during interviews with reporters who would catch me coming or going from my home. But I alone am responsible for the confusion caused by my inconsistent statements. The fact is, I am guilty of sexual immorality, and I take responsibility for the entire problem.I am a deceiver and a liar. There is a part of my life that is so repulsive and dark that I've been warring against it all of my adult life.For extended periods of time, I would enjoy victory and rejoice in freedom. Then, from time to time, the dirt that I thought was gone would resurface, and I would find myself thinking thoughts and experiencing desires that were contrary to everything I believe and teach.Through the years, I've sought assistance in a variety of ways, with none of them proving to be effective in me. Then, because of pride, I began deceiving those I love the most because I didn't want to hurt or disappoint them.The public person I was wasn't a lie; it was just incomplete. When I stopped communicating about my problems, the darkness increased and finally dominated me. As a result, I did things that were contrary to everything I believe.The accusations that have been leveled against me are not all true, but enough of them are true that I have been appropriately and lovingly removed from ministry. Our church's overseers have required me to submit to the oversight of Dr. James Dobson, Pastor Jack Hayford, and Pastor Tommy Barnett. Those men will perform a thorough analysis of my mental, spiritual, emotional, and physical life. They will guide me through a program with the goal of healing and restoration for my life, my marriage, and my family.I created this entire situation. The things that I did opened the door for additional allegations . But I am responsible; I alone need to be disciplined and corrected. An example must be set.It is important that you know how much I love and appreciate my wife, Gayle. What I did should never reflect in a negative way on her relationship with me. She has been and continues to be incredible. The problem is not with her, my children or any of you. It was created 100 percent by me.I have been permanently removed from the office of Senior Pastor of New Life Church. Until a new senior pastor is chosen, our Associate Senior Pastor Ross Parsley will assume all of the the responsibilities of the office. On the day he accepted this new role, he and his wife, Aimee, had a new baby boy. A new life in the midst of this circumstance - I consider the confluence of events to be prophetic. Please commit to join with Pastor Ross and the others in church leadership to make their service to you easy and without burden. They are fine leaders. You are blessed.I appreciate your loving and forgiving nature, and I humbly ask you to do a few things.1.) Please stay faithful to God through service and giving.2.) Please forgive me. Because of the negative publicity I've created with my foolishness, we can now demonstrate to the world how our sick and wounded can be healed, and how even disappointed and betrayed church bodies can prosper and rejoice.Gayle and I need to be gone for a while. We will never return to a leadership role at New Life Church. In our hearts, we will always be members of this body. We love you as our family. I know this situation will put you to the test. I'm sorry I've created the test, but please rise to this challenge and demonstate the incredible grace that is available to all of us.Ted Haggard Here is the letter from his wife, Gayle: Dear Woman of New Life Church,I am so sorry for the circumstances that have led me to write this letter to you today. I know your hearts are broken; mine is as well. Yet my hope rests steadfastly in the Lord who is forever faithful.What I want you to know is that I love my husband, Ted Haggard, with all my heart. I am committed to him until death "do us part". We started this journey together and with the grace of God, we will finish together.If I were standing before you today, I would not change one iota of what I have been teaching the women of our church. Then occasionally my old, pragmatic activist friends say to me, but why are you not out there on the street working to change the world? I answer, I am out there on the street in the most serious way be being here with my books, and if you see no connection there then you have not understood my vocation. I do not love the suffering poor less by offering them what they need more.” (Thomas C. Oden, Evangelical Theological Society, Nov. 16, 1990) Matt: I doubt this perspective will suffice on the day of Matthew 25:31-46. Juxtapose the last quote with this one: Wesley required all Methodists to regularly visit the sick. To the rich, who wanted to send a physician with their money instead Wesley writes: …this would not excuse you: his going would not fulfil your duty. Neither would it excuse you, unless you saw them with your own eyes. If you do not, you lose a means of grace; you lose an excellent means of increasing your thankfulness to God, who saves you from this pain and sickness, and continues your health and strength; as well as of increasing your sympathy with the afflicted… (“On Visiting the Sick”, Sermon) Or this one: All therefore who desire to escape the everlasting fire and to inherit the everlasting kingdom are equally concerned…to practice this important duty. It is equally incumbent on young and old, rich and poor, men and women, according to their ability. None are so young, if they desire to save their own souls, as to be excused from assisting their neighbours. None are so poor (unless they want the necessaries of life) but they are called to do something…for the relief and comfort of their afflicted. (Ibid) The triumphant Paul: “Paul had been imprisoned in Philippi, chased out of Thessalonica, smuggled out of Beroea, laughed at in Athens and in Corinth his message was foolishness to the Greeks and s stumbling-block to the Jews. Out of that background he declared that he was proud of the gospel.
